The court is also going to use the &#8220;best interest of the child&#8221; standard to establish if it is in the child\u2019s best interest to have you as their guardian.<\/p>\n<p>Parents are able be guardians, but a guardianship is usually created because the minor child requires someone else to make legal decisions on their behalf.
